WCPA Decries ICE Killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minnesota
Olympia, WA (January 9, 2026)—The Washington Coalition for Police Accountability (WCPA) strongly decries the fatal shooting by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent (ICE) of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday, and calls for the suspension of the officer and a state-level investigation.
Good was a 37-year-old widow and mother of three. Available video footage shows Good beginning to drive away from an encounter with ICE agents when an officer fired into her open window, killing her. The shooting occurred less than a mile from the intersection where George Floyd was murdered by a local police officer in May 2020, during a large-scale ICE operation brought about in part due to the racist attacks by President Trump and fraud allegations against Somali communities in the area.
In a statement, Sonia Joseph, WCPA Board President, said:
“Renee Nicole Good was murdered by law enforcement while she seemed to be trying to leave the scene in her car, which felt painfully similar to how my son Giovonn was killed in a vehicle pursuit by police here in Washington. It is my sincerest hope that the Good family gets answers, accountability, and justice for this senseless death. Her killing is an unconscionable escalation of the violent tactics being used by immigration enforcement. Immigration agents are required to follow use-of-force guidelines just like any other law enforcement officers. They are not above the law.”
In a statement, Carrie Miles, Impacted Family, said:
“I am horrified by the impunity of the ICE agent who killed Renee Nicole Good. When my nephew Derrick Clark Jr., was killed by police in Oregon in 2022, he was trying to get away from aggressive cops. Now, yet another life has been claimed by abusive, over-reaching law enforcement, and another family will suffer.”
WCPA stands in solidarity with the family and community affected by this killing. We call on Washington state elected officials to speak out against unjust ICE violence and to push for measures that minimize immigration enforcement activity in our state.
