Implementation - Holding Them Accountable
Getting our legislative agenda passed is only half the battle. We continue to see the work through by working with the agencies tasked to perform these accountability solutions in myriad ways. We’re also continuing to keep a close eye on those in power to oversee any potential failures that present themselves.
Two WCPA members were appointed by the Governor to serve on the Office of Independent investigations Advisory Board. One of these members serves as co-chair.
In July, 2022 a director was appointed to the Office of Independent Investigations and the WCPA established a monitoring team associated with the requirements of that office.

Governor Jay Inslee appointed seven WCPA members to serve as Commissioners on the CJTC – unprecedented community representation in police standards and training nationwide.
WCPA members provide significant input to the CJTC on rulemaking and are developing methods for certifying police officers in Washington State

The AGO worked closely with WCPA and member organizations in the development and review of the model policies on use of force.
